CONCERTS DURING 2020
Disappointingly, this year, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the orchestra was only able to perform one live concert; this one.
Earlier in the year we did a live streamed concert via Facebook and YouTube, which was an interesting experiment, but we certainly missed our live audience! The concert at the Tamborine Mountain State School Hall was heaven sent. The temperature outside was in the 30s but owing to the recently installed air conditioning it was a comfortable 25c The audience showed their appreciation of the whole event by asking for an encore! All in all a successful concert. |
We were very honoured to have the professional oboist Nicholas Donnelly as a guest for this concert.
Nicholas travelled overseas after completing his studies at the Queensland Conservatorium. He studied for a year in Hong Kong which was followed by studies in Germany. This turned into a twenty-year musical journey playing in the Nuremberg Symphony, Stuttgart Philharmonic and a string of musicals productions. He misses playing Bach Cantatas in beautiful old churches. Since returning to the Gold Coast, he has been active enjoying a variety of productions in Brisbane including symphony, ballet, film and pop music. He is currently working as an Instrumental Music teacher with EQ where he met our Musical Director, Sean Butler. Sean thought it a novel idea to get an oboist on the program and to play along side his brother, Sean, in the concert. We are very pleased to have Sean Donnelly as a member of the orchestra's flute section. |
